Item: #DA002

◄BACK

Tiffany - large glass  bowl - 8 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/2 " high. Mark - inscribed     "L.C.T " and " Favrile ". Deep amber iridescent bowl is in a good condition with no cracks or chips, some wear to surface and rim. Bowl has a scalloped rim and ribbed sides and it is in shades of blue, amber and even a greenish tint at times. If held to bright light it looks mostly amber or gold color and most if not all of blue coloring disappears. This glassware, covering a wide diversity of types, was produced in glasshouses operated by Louis Comfort Tiffany, America's outstanding glass designer of the Art Nouveau period, from the last quarter of the 19th century until the early 1930s. Tiffany revived early techniques and devised many new ones.
