Rookwood - vase.

   Rookwood - Small 5 3/4 " high and 3 " in diameter standard glaze vase. Decorated with yellow and brown clovers, the stems and leaves are shades of green and brown. The background is dark brown to yellow. Good shape with no cracks or chips. C.F. Bonsall (1901 - 1905 ) signed this vase with her initials - C.F.B. This vase is marked with fourteen flame and Roman numeral I for 1901. The " X  " is cut on the base to show the piece was considered imperfect, impressed number " 625 ". Rookwood -  considered America's foremost art pottery, the Rookwood Pottery Company was established in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1880, by Mrs. Maria Nichols Longworth Storer. To accurately record its development, each piece carried the Rookwood insignia, or mark, was dated, and, if individually decorated, was usually signed by the artist. The pottery remained in Cincinnati until 1959 when it was sold to Herschede Hall Clock Company and moved to Starkville, Mississippi, where it continued in operation until 1967.
