"The Blind Beggar" after J. L. Dyckmans (1811 - 1887). This is a unusual and a very fine original oil on canvas with two signatures and dates. Bottom left is signed E. Haseloff - 1911 and the second signature : J. L. Dyckmans 1835 appears on the lower right corner. The painting has been professionally restored. The canvas measures approximately 35" X 32". Dyckmans, who was a genre painter, was born in Lierre. He studied in Antwerp in 1833 under G. Wappers and exhibited there and in London, Paris and Vienna. He died in Antwerp." |
