MEISSEN - coffee cup and saucer circa 1750. Cup: height 2 3/4", saucer: diameter 5 1/4" Mark: crossed swords under glaze blue on cup and saucer, impressed numeral "2" to saucer. The cup and saucer with a basket wearer relief border and a gilt petal - shaped edge (Alt Ozier pattern), the cup with a slightly flaring rim. Gilded details on the wishbone handle. The exterior of the coffee cup and the interior of the saucer are finely painted with colorful sprays and scattered sprigs of German flowers (deutsche Blumen). The cup and saucer are in generally very good condition apart from some very minor wear to the gilding on the rim. |
