Meissen - tea cup and saucer, about 1745-1750. Cup: height 1 7/8",
diameter 3 1/8". Saucer: diameter 5 1/4" Mark - crossed
swords under glaze blue on cup and saucer. The cup and saucer are painted in purple
monochrome (camaieu) with early island-style Watteau scenes. The
center of the saucer and side of the cup feature gallant couples in park
settings. The bottom interior of the cup decorated with purple flowers.
The saucer and cup have lacy bands of scrollwork on the interior rims.
Very good original shape with no cracks, some wear to the surface and gold rim.
