Tea cup, circa 1745 - 1750. Height - 1 7/8", diameter 3 1/8". Mark - crossed swords in under glaze blue, gold "S" and impressed "2" inside foot rim. The exterior of the cup has two reserves painted in polychrome with river front scene, one has a mileage monument The paintings, of exceptionally fine quality are attributed to Johanna G. Heintze. He used a palette of refined colors to produce atmospheric prospective in landscape views. The scenes are framed in scrollwork cartouche of gold and shadowed with dark brown line. The interior bottom of the cup has a similar river scene framed in double iron - red circles. The interior rim has gold scrollwork, the foot rim bordered with gold band. The fond between the reserves has insects painted in polychrome. Condition: Very good |
