| MEISSEN - Saucer, circa 1740 - 1745. Diameter 4 3/4". Crossed swords mark in under glaze - blue, incised "2" inside foot rim. The center interior of the saucer is painted in polychrome with landscape scene showing a two figures and a mule. The scene is framed in a baroque style scrollwork cartouche of gold and shadowed with dark brown line. The exterior rim of the saucer is painted with gold bond and with lacy gold scrollwork borders. Iron - red triple line border on reverse of the saucer. The foot rim is bordered with gold bands. The condition is very good, with no restoration, crack or chips, some wear to the surface and rim. |
