A tea bowl and saucer circa 1765. Bowl: height 1 3/4", saucer: diameter 4 7/8" Mark: crossed swords and dot under glaze blue on bowl and saucer, impressed numbers to both. The bowl and saucer have the raised molded Marseille pattern. The saucer interior and teabowl exterior are decorated in polychrome with allegorical scenes framed in gold cartouches with lattice panels. There are scattered German flowers painted on the porcelain surround. The interior rim of the bowl and saucer have a gold dentil border and bowl has a gilt rim around the base. Condition: Very good. |
