A saucer and cup circa 1745. Cup: height 1 3/4", saucer: diameter 5 1/8" Mark: crossed swords in a double circle in under glaze blue on cup and saucer, the cup with the painter's mark "S", the saucer with "W" in under glaze blue, impressed numbers "63"? to both. The cup and saucer are painted in the factory with the "rock and bird" pattern in under glaze blue and gold. The interior of the cup and saucer are painted with flowers, houses, bird, landscape with figures and animal and are Hausmaler work of the shop of F.J. Ferner, a Thuringian artist. Condition: Very good, restored small flat chips to outside rim of saucer. |
