Hausmaler tea bowl.

 

  
 


A Meissen porcelain bowl, early 1720s, probably decorated in the Bartolomaus Seuter workshop, Augsburg, The bowl is circular in shape and has a slightly flaring upper rim (averted rim). Mark: none. Height: 1 7/8", diam.:3" It is in creamy glaze. The exterior of the bowl is painted with what look like a large rabbit in gold on both sides. The animal is surrounded by bushes and trees. The interior has scrollwork gold border including dotted c-scrolls. A bird on a branch is painted in gold on the bottom of the interior of the tea bowl. The foot rim is gilt, as are the exterior borders of the upper rim. Condition: very good, slight rubbing to gilding.
