A Tea bowl circa 1725.

 

 
 


A tea bowl circa 1725 with caduceus in under glaze blue. The bowl is circular in shape and has a slightly flaring upper rim (averted rim). It is in creamy glaze. The exterior of the bowl is painted in polychrome with an oriental pattern of a flower spray, insect and rock. The palette is confined to early Horoldt colors of iron red, purple, brown, yellow and green. In the bottom of the bowl there is a flower spray. The interior rim has geometric bonds in iron-red. Condition: very good.
