A saucer and cup circa 1740. Cup: height 17/8", saucer: diameter 5 1/8" Mark: crossed swords under glaze blue on cup and saucer, impressed into paste under glaze former's marks. The cup with slightly flared rim is hemispherical and has an ear shaped handle.The exterior of both pieces have sea- green grounds. Two reserves on the cup, edged in purple, and the center of the saucer are painted with river and harbor scenes in purple. The interior bottom of the cup painted with a river scene framed in double purple circles. Gold rim lines. Condition: good. |
