A coffee pot and cover circa 1765, height 6 1/8". Mark: crossed swords
and dot under glaze blue, impressed number "57". The coffee pot is
pear shaped with a twig handle and it is painted on each side in
purple monochrome (camaieu) with a genre landscape and river front
scene. The painting is full of fascinating details from daily life as
well as architectural details. The cover similarly decorated with
flower knob painted in gold. The spout and handle with flower
terminals with gilded detail, gilt rim around the base. Condition:
good, restored to handle (handle restuck). |
