Meissen - tea bowl.

MEISSEN  - Tea bowl, circa 1745 - 1750. Height - 1 7/8", diameter 3 1/8". Mark - crossed swords in under glaze blue, gold "5" inside foot rim, impressed "2". The exterior of the bowl has two reserves painted in polychrome with genre landscape and river front scene. They are framed in an elaborate cartouche of gold, purple and iron - red. The sky has blue clouds and flights of birds. The interior bottom of the bowl painted with a river scene framed in double iron - red circles. The interior rim has gold scrollwork, the foot rim bordered with gold band. Very good shape with no cracks or chips, some wear to the surface and rim.
