Cigarette case.
Item: #DA010

Antique silver and enamel cigarette case, nearly 5 oz of sterling with a gold wash inside. The rectangular tap decorated with a enamel plaque of a Orpheus and Euridice of Greek mythology. Orpheus was the pipe player, who convinced the gods to let him bring Euridice back from Hades after she died, but was told he could not look back until they were both out. He looked and lost her forever.  The face of the case is surrounded with blue enamel, which though not perfect, is close. The reverse of the piece is sterling and engraved - " All my love, K.K." in beautiful script and in the upper right corner are the initials GH. The piece probably dates back to the late 19th Century. The cigarette case is marked 71, 900 and has two addition hard to read hallmarks. Good shape, some wear to surface.
